Strawberry Fields

It's strawberry picking season here in the UK and Anglesey is the perfect place to pick your own.

Within minutes of crossing the bridge on to the island are the wonderful Hooton's Home Grown "pick your own" fields. The fields open in June each year and offer a range of soft fruits for picking depending upon the weather and the growing season. This year looks set to be a good one! All of the fruit is on a "Pay as you Pick" basis and children and adults alike can delight is searching for the biggest, juciest fruit available. The fields are great fun to visit as a family and well worth the slight detour en-route to Llys Dulas. Check the Hooton's Home Grown Facebook Page for more information and what to pick when. The PYO site is on the A4080 in the direction of Brynsiencyn from Llanfairpwllgwyngyll on the RHS road after Ffingar Crossroads (look out for the signs.) It's open from 10am - 5pm every day. If you continue on down the same road you will come to the ever popular Hooton's Home Grown Fram Shop. It's a real treat and the perfect place to stop for coffee and stock up on the huge range of fruit, veg and meat that they grow and source from around the island. The food miles are virtually zero!
